About Church World Service
Church World Service (CWS) is an incredible organization that seeks to, “feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, comfort the aged, [and] shelter the homeless.” In the aftermath of World War II, Seventeen denominations came together to form CWS, “to do in partnership what none of us could hope to do as well alone.” While the tactics of CWS have changed and grown throughout the years, their mission stays the same. Today, CWS is helping to provide resettlement support, educational support, refugee support, food security, and more across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
CWS Story of Change
We love working with organizations like CWS because we get to stay up to date on their global work! One story that tugged at our heartstrings was the story of Maria. Maria was born in Nebaj, Guatemala. Over the course of her life, she experienced war, her father’s assassination, a gunshot injury, and much more.
In 2014, Maria got to know CWS local partners CIEDEG and CODI. She soon joined the ongoing CWS program aimed at helping families have plenty of nutritious food to eat. “At that time, we grew almost only corn. Now, thanks to the training and seeds that CODI has given us, I have been able to grow chard, broccoli, cabbage, coriander, beets, cauliflower, and carrots,” says Maria.

35 Years and Counting
For the past 35 years, we’ve had the honor of coming alongside CWS for all of their accounting, financial, CRM, and eService needs. Organizations like CWS make our work at DDI so rewarding, and we look forward to coming alongside CWS through all they will accomplish in the next 35 years!
